Your child is about to embark on an important chapter in life. We recognize parents and families are partners in their student’s educational decisions and choices. Our goal is to provide your student with the finest liberal arts education and college experience at Virginia Wesleyan College. You want the best for your child, and we offer an environment where your son or daughter will be challenged in positive ways, have the space to explore and dream, and have the courage to reach for his or her goals.
Virginia Wesleyan College is a four-year liberal arts institution affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Home to 1,250 students, the 300-acre campus rests on the border of Norfolk and Virginia Beach in the heart of the historic Hampton Roads area. Virginia Wesleyan provides a prime opportunity for students to learn both in and out of the classroom, offering 34 majors, 29 minors and 7 Pre-Professional Programs. Our student-to-faculty ratio is 13:1, and 90% of faculty members hold the highest degree in their field of study. Within a year of graduation, over 90% of our students are actively employed and/or pursuing graduate studies. Our graduates are successful, and we are proud of them.
There are many ways to engage and grow outside the classroom. We have more than 70 clubs and organizations on campus. Additionally, the college boasts 19 intercollegiate varsity athletic teams and competes in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference of the NCAA Division III. While there is plenty to do on campus, we also benefit greatly from our proximity in a vibrant metropolitan area of nearly 1.7 million people. From arts and entertainment to internships and research opportunities, the Hampton Roads region is a tremendous asset for VWC students, and we encourage them to take an active role in our community.
We hope you will take the time to visit during your child’s college search. It truly is the best way to find out if VWC is the right fit for your child. We also hope you will spend some time reviewing the information throughout this website. Please let us know how we can be helpful to you and your student as you navigate the college search process.
We look forward to hearing from you.
